Rolling out the red carpet for prospective students and families

Dear Jayhawks,

A few weeks ago we were proud to announce that this year’s freshman class is our largest in 14 years and the most academically talented and diverse class in KU history. Our enrollment success is a testament to the work you do to attract talented students to KU and help them succeed.

We are already recruiting our next class of Jayhawks — and we have a special opportunity this Friday to welcome prospective students and families for our annual Crimson & Blue Day open house event.

Throughout the day, more than 1,000 high school students, transfer students and families will participate in campus tours, resource fairs and other customized appointments to help them explore KU. It’s a truly impressive day of programming and a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our university.

So if you know a student who is considering KU, encourage them to register and attend Friday’s event. And if you see prospective students and families on campus Friday, please take a moment to say hello and make them feel at home. A simple smile or conversation can go a long way toward ensuring our guests choose to become Jayhawks.

Surveys consistently show the campus visit is among the key factors in a student’s decision on where to attend college. Thanks to the work of so many of you, KU already provides one of the best campus tour experiences in the nation — and that experience will get even better in the years ahead with the opening of the Jayhawk Welcome Center and the development of a new campus gateway near 11th and Mississippi streets.
