Vice Chancellor Reggie Robinson named president, CEO of Kansas Health Foundation

Colleagues,

I am writing to let you know that a key member of our leadership team will be leaving the University of Kansas for a new opportunity.

Earlier today, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs Reggie Robinson was named the new president and CEO of the Kansas Health Foundation, one of the nation’s premier public health non-profit organizations. Reggie’s last day at KU will be in November, and he will begin his new position Dec. 1.

While this is a loss for our university, I am delighted for Reggie, who has been an invaluable asset to KU and will undoubtedly do great work in his new role. Reggie describes his new position with the Kansas Health Foundation as a “dream job” that he couldn’t turn down. As a healthcare practitioner, it makes me smile to know our state and society will benefit from Reggie’s leadership of such an impactful non-profit organization.

I have begun the process of identifying an interim vice chancellor for public affairs, and I will share details about this process in the coming weeks.

As vice chancellor, Reggie has expertly guided the Office of Public Affairs and been integral to many of KU’s most important initiatives. Thanks in part to his work with Kansas lawmakers, KU this year had its most productive legislative session in a decade. Reggie has contributed to our work on campus alcohol policy, corporate sponsorships, and our Kansas Team Health model of student-athlete care. He has enhanced our engagement with the City of Lawrence and the Lawrence Chamber, and he has helped develop the framework for our strategic planning process, which will begin in earnest this semester. All of this is in addition to the contributions he made in previous roles as director of our School of Public Affairs & Administration, chief of staff to Chancellor Robert Hemenway, and a member of our School of Law faculty.

Most important, Reggie has been a trusted advisor to me and our leadership team. We have benefited immensely from his expertise, his wisdom, and his calm in the face of adversity. We are grateful to have had him here during an important period for KU, and the university is better for his efforts.
