Message: Your work inspires Jayhawks everywhere

Monday, February 18, 2019

A year ago this week, Jayhawks across the world came together to support One Day. One KU., the university’s first-ever 24-hour giving campaign. The event produced 1,898 gifts – the most ever received by KU in a single day – totaling $734,621 in support for students, faculty and programming.

Later this week, on Wednesday, February 20, our community will again come together for One Day. One KU. In advance of this year’s event, I want to thank you – our faculty and staff – for your central role in our fundraising efforts. Donors support KU because they believe in the work you do to improve society. For that, you have my sincere appreciation.

First and foremost, donors believe in your efforts to educate students, as evidenced by the volume of private funds that support student scholarships. This scholarship support is a key reason we have grown our enrollment five straight years and continue to recruit the most talented freshmen in history. More broadly, your work inspires donors to contribute to facility upgrades, academic programs, and endowed professorships that help us recruit and support top faculty.

In other words, the work you do – and the financial support it inspires among donors – is crucial to every aspect of our mission.

For those of you able to participate, One Day. One KU. is the perfect opportunity to support the programs and priorities most meaningful to you. Mark your calendar for February 20, join the celebration on Twitter at #OneDayOneKU, and visit the One Day. One KU. website.

Again, thank you for your work — and for inspiring Jayhawks around the world.

Respectfully,

Doug
