Colleagues,
Welcome to "3, 2, One KU," a weekly memo in which I'll share updates and thoughts for the week ahead. The title of the memo is derived from the format: each edition will include three things to know, two things to share, and one reflection on how our "One KU" initiative is enhancing collaboration across our campuses. I hope you find this weekly communication informative.
Respectfully,
Doug
Three things to know
KU to launch workplace satisfaction survey
Beginning February 23, KU will participate in the Great Colleges to Work For survey, a nationally benchmarked assessment that will help us better understand the employee experience across our university. This survey is part of our ongoing effort to create an environment where every employee feels valued and respected. Each campus will receive additional information in the days ahead. In the meantime, I strongly encourage you to participate in the survey when you receive it. Your feedback helps us identify what is working well and where we can do better.

KU issues call for proposals for internal funding opportunities
The Office of Research has issued a call for proposals for three internal funding opportunities designed to support KU faculty establishing their research programs, pivoting existing research to align with new funding agency priorities, or developing collaborative research projects that span the Lawrence and Medical Center campuses. These opportunities serve KU’s related goals of advancing research and enhancing collaboration across campus through our One KU initiative.
Two things to share
AAU leader raises alarm about declines in U.S. research
Last month, AAU President Barbara Snyder published a blog post on how the federal government’s recent efforts to cut science funding and to hamper our nation’s ability to recruit, retain, and grow top scientific talent could cause the United States to lose its scientific and military leadership to China.
Learn how KU tackles Kansas water challenges
Water is vital to Kansas’ economy and the nation’s agribusiness. In recent decades, the Kansas water supply and quality have come under threat, and KU is leading the way in developing strategies to protect this precious resource. "One KU"
New branding policy now in effect
Consistent branding — telling the world who we are through actions, messages and design — builds equity that benefits every part of KU. Our new branding policy, a One KU initiative, helps ensure that we present a clear, cohesive story about the University of Kansas to the world.
This policy provides expectations and rules for correct and consistent use of the university brand positioning, branding platform, and visual identity standards. The policy establishes an expectation that the highest-profile marketing and communications collateral go through a branding alignment review process before publication.
Information and tools to help units align with our institutional branding, as well as information about which items should be submitted for review, are available on the Brand Center site. Please contact KU Marketing at marketing@ku.edu with questions. Thank you for your continued efforts to share KU’s story with our Jayhawk community..
